In March, iconic music equipment chain Sam Ash Music announced that they would be shuttering 18 of their 44 locations, including their beloved New York City shop, but now it seems that the remaining 26 stores might be closing as well. While the company hasn't yet made an official announcement, posts on social media from people claiming to be employees at the retailer state that all stores will close if Sam Ash can't find a buyer.

One post on Reddit titled "Sam Ash is Closing All Remaining Stores Unless a Buyer Can Be Found" says that "messages just went out to all company leadership but they haven't told employees yet," adding, "If you are an employee at a still open store, sorry if this is how you are finding out." A person who said they work at the chain commented that the post is "true." Meanwhile, on Facebook, an employee from the Sam Ash location in Memphis wrote, "Found out today Sam Ash will be closing all its stores. Guess I’m back on the hunt for a job."

In March, the company, which has been around for a century, released a statement that read: "For the last 100 years, Sam Ash Music has successfully adapted to meet the challenge of changing business conditions. As we look towards the next 100 years, the company must continue to adapt to ensure its continued success. Sam Ash Music remains committed to keeping a strong physical store footprint in the future while we continue growing our successful online sales offerings. As part of this restructuring, the company is closing several stores nationwide. This restructuring is emotionally tough, but we are confident these moves will make Sam Ash Music stronger as we continue serving the music community into the future, as we have for the past 100 years."

Hopefully, either the rumors are not true or, if they are, someone will buy the iconic brand. As yet, Sam Ash hasn't commented.
